Obituary of Elaine Kay Sikes Barnes
Elaine Kaye Barnes was born on May 7, 1948 at Monroe, LA to the union of her parents, Hansford Vernon Sikes and Martha Gracie Turner Sikes, and she passed from this life on November 24, 2020 at her residence in Columbia following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband: Tommy Barnes, two brothers: John W. Sikes and Loyd Ray Sikes; her sisters:Hazel Mae Perot,Florice Metcalf, Willie Ruth Pugh,Allie Bee Taylor. She enjoyed being a cosmetologist and was a Personel Care Assistant and had been employed with Advanced Sitting Solutions prior to her illness.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her three daughters: Kim Leteff (Willie) of Columbia, Carrie Fossier (Charles) of Keller, Texas and Robbie Miller (Darrin Waters) of Clarks; special step-son: Matthew Barnhill and a special step-daughter: Amy Crain; her grandchildren: Jessica, Leslie, Hannah, Corbin, Leilani, Tyler, Nicholas, Brandon, Justin and Marley; her great-grandchildren: Janelle, Antwone, Anahla, Nevaeh and Bryson; her twin brother: Duane Sikes; her sisters: Diane Tolbert, Juanita Hobgood and Myrtie Perot. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a very special friend: Emma Jean Girod.
The Barnes Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Ascend Hospice, and a special thanks to her R N , Mary Beth Westmoreland, her personel care assistant: Ilene Baker and Chaplain Joe Rosales, Community Liaison Charlotte McNeal, RN and MSW Cindy Smith; for all of the loving concern and care they gave to our mom during her last days. The family would also like to thank First Baptist Church of Columbia for the cake sale fund raiser for mom and also Spotted Dog Pawn Shop for the raffle they provided and the Caldwell Parish community as a whole for the love, prayers and many acts of comfort and concern given to our mom.
The Barnes Family has chosen to honor their mother with a memorial service to be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday December 3, 2020 at the Cross Roads Baptist Church at Grayson with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM.
