Obituary of Yvonne Simpson Quaid

Funeral services for Yvonne Simpson Quaid will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January, 2, 2021 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Bro. Glenn Roark officiating. Interment will. follow at Welcome Home Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Yvonne was born October 31, 1934 in New Era, Louisiana and she passed from this life on December 30, 2020 at Haven Nursing Home, Columbia. Yvonne was very patriotic, she adored children and loved working in her yard. She enjoyed singing and was an animal lover, but most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Antioch Free Methodist Church where she attended until her health prevented her from doing so. Yvonne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as president for a number of years. She owned and operated Yvonne's Home Furnishings for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius Simpson and Sylvia Simpson La Prairie; her husband, Cecil Lee Quaid; and her father, Rev. L.F. LaPrairie, who raised her after she lost her dad at a very young age. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Dolores LaPrairie Hays; daughters: Sylvia Quaid (Charlie), Monica McIntyre (Sammy), and Allison Quaid Hughes (Tony); grandchildren: Mallory Fatheree Barker (Chet), Zachary Smith, Cody Hughes, Skyler Hughes, Jennifer Evans, and Michael McIntyre; great-grandson, Lane Barker; and sister-in-law, Irene Quaid Bollinger. The family would like to thank the staff at Haven Nursing Home, Citizens Medical Center, Dr. Head, Dr. Shroff, and her loving caregiver, Brandy Volentine. Serving as pallbearers will be Glen Beck, Tony Hughes, Skyler Hughes, Charles Brown, and Chet Barker. Honorary pallbearers will include the American Legion Post 162 in Columbia, La.
