Obituary of Steve Sims

Graveside funeral services for Steve Sims will be held at 2 PM, Friday, January 15, 2021 at Columbia Hill Cemetery, Columbia, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. Steve was born May 10, 1946 in Oak Grove, LA to the union of his parents, Alfred Joe Sims and Maxine Gault Sims, and he passed from life on January 12, 2021 at his home in Columbia after a lengthy illness. Steve enjoyed playing golf and going to watch the horse races. He loved raising his four poodles. Steve loved his family and he will be greatly missed by them. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: David Joe Sims, Aubrey Lee Sims and Johnny Wayne Sims; and his sister, Sharon Sims Davenport. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Faye Sims; son, Darren Sims (Tammy); daughter, Dana Sims (Mike Huffty); step-sons: Todd Long, Toby Long (Amy), and Tim Long; ten grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Long, Toby Long, Todd Long, Darren Sims, Steven Sims, and Mike Huffty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Disabled Veterans of America at www.dva.org.
