Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Thompson Spence
Graveside funeral services for Elizabeth Ann Spence age 84 of Fort Necessity will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday January 26, 2021 at the Burroughs Cemetery east of Columbia with Bro. Herbie Hitt officiating. Services are under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. There will be a brief visitation at the cemetery on Tuesday from 1:30 PM until time of service.
Elizabeth Ann Thompson Spence was born on June 7, 1936 at Jigger, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Albert Lewis “Bill” Thompson and Mide Arvella Pierce Thompson and passed from this life on Sunday January 24, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband James Lewis Spence and her brother, Woody Thompson.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Mabry of Fort Necessity, Kathy Mabry of Grayson and Lynn Howell of West Monroe; her brother: Albert Thompson of Holum and four sisters: Lou Phillips of Start, Billie Gilmore and Dorothy Volentine both of Holum and Lynda Stratton of Navarre Beach, Florida ; eight grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeromy Howell, Jeff Stockstill, Christopher Graham, Kirk Smith and Chad Smith. Honorary pallbearers include Dale Moore and Danny Howell.
The Spence Family would like to extend heartfelt love and blessings to all the Care Staff at Passages Hospice, with a special thank you to Kim Graham, Debbie Gilmore Whitman and April Graham. The love extended to our mother in our time of need will never, ever be forgotten.
