Obituary of Jessie Mae Brown

Funeral services for Jessie Mae Brown, age 87, of Clarendon, Arkansas and formerly of Grayson, LA will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 25, 2021 from the Columbia Chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of service. Jessie Mae Brown was born on June 5, 1933 at Riverton, LA and passed from this life on February 22, 2021 at the Little Rock Baptist Medical Center. Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, William Penn Brown, Sr., known by everyone as Nude; her mother, Mabel Nation; and her beloved uncle, Penic Howell. To know Jessie Mae was to love her. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very quiet woman but loved to laugh with her friends and family. After the death of her husband she moved to Clarendon, AR to be near her daughter. There in Clarendon she was an active member of Missionary Baptist Church and loved going to church and singing. She also loved quilting, gardening, and feeding her birds. Left to cherish her memory are her children: daughter, Dejuan Locke (Bobby) of Clarendon; her sons: W.P. “Bill” Brown, Jr. of Columbia and Harris Brown "Linda Woodard" of Columbia; her sister-in-law: Paticia Looman of Grayson; her beloved grandchildren: Bobbie Lynn Steeland (Jody), Amber Sanders (Sam), Sherman Brown, Timothy Brown (Leanna), Troy Brown, and Natalie Nicole Brown; and her great-grandchildren: Jaden Lynn Steeland and Josiah Sanders. Serving as pallbearers will be Sherman Brown, Timothy Brown, Troy Brown, Sam Sanders, Maurice Sanders, Jason Moore and Bryon Sanders. Jody Steeland will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
