Obituary of Evelyn Bratton

Memorial services for Evelyn M. Bratton, age 81, of Grayson, Louisiana will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, Louisiana. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from noon until 2:00, at the funeral home. Evelyn McDowell Bratton was born November 11, 1939 in Clarks, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Jim Floyd McDowell and Lula Mae Boyette McDowell and passed from this life March 27, 2021 at Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. Evelyn was a devoted wife and loving mother of two children and several she helped raise. She touched many lives through her domestic mothering skills. Evelyn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed life and making happy memories, playing dominoes and pursuing artistic hobbies. She will be missed by many. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty years, Douglas Bratton; two siblings: Robert James McDowell and Mary Ruth Etheridge; two half-brothers: James McDowell and Gerald (Pank) McDowell; and Genivia (Tot) Thompson McDowell. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Carla Bratton Ashworth (Rodney) of Olla and Kellie Bratton Walton (Jonathon) of Clarks; four grandchildren: Dustin Smith, Cheyenne James, Kala Reitzell, and Kadence Walton; three great-grandchildren: Scott (Scotty) Smith, Gabriella (Bella) Smith, and Isaac (Ice Man) Carroll; her siblings: Carlos McDowell of Killeen, TX, Clayton McDowell of Grayson, and Jettie McDowell of Clarks; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Riser Funeral Home, PO Box 57, Columbia, LA 71418 to help cover final expenses.
