Obituary of Millie Buchanan

Funeral services for Mrs. Millie Hilda Buchanan age 84 of Olla will be held 2pm Friday February 11,2011 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Jack Miller and Rev. Jeff Wyant officiating. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home in Olla, and on Friday from 9am until time of service. Mrs. Buchanan was born on February 15, 1926 in Caldwell Parish to the union of her parents Willard Houston "Huey" Thompson and Irma Idell Mayes Thompson. She passed from this life on February 9, 2011 at the Lasalle Nursing Center in Jena following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene C. Buchanan, her parents, and her brother Robert Thompson. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at Olla. Survivors include: her son James Buchanan and his wife Tammy of Bastrop. Her daughter: Liz Cruse and husband Joe of Olla. Her grandchildren: Sherry Conley, Cory Conley, and Ted Legg all of Bastrop. Mike Buchanan of Angola, Beverly Buchanan of Reno, Nevada, Ricky Sisk of Bastrop, and Damon Sisk of Baton Rouge; Joey Cruse and his wife Maria of West Monroe, and Brandi Kelly and husband Dewayne of West Monroe. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers: Bob Allbritton, Glenn Black, Lamar Gaspard, Dr. Riaz Chaudhry, Rex Sharp, and Terry Thorn. Honorary pallbearers include: John McCartney, Cleve Vinson, Paul Brewer, Melvin Williams, Don Roark, and Jim Fish.
