Obituary of Merle Carr Wyant

Funeral services for Mrs. Merle Carr Wyant, 88, of Chatham, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor Howard Hudson, Bro. Stan Wyant, and Harold Waldrop, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery west of Columbia. Merle was born August 17, 1924 to John Wesley and Sarah Carr in Columbia and she passed from this life on December 15, 2012 at Jackson Parish Hospital in Jonesboro. She was a member of Grayson Baptist Church. She loved to fish and was an amazing cook and she loved to entertain people. She was a gracious hostess, a good friend, and a competitive domino player. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Harold Waldrop and Ross Lovelady; two brothers: Johnny Carr and Aubern Carr; two sisters: Willie Mae Mayers and Cecil Dale Fluitt. She is survived by her husband: Calvin Wyant of Chatham; two sons: Stan Waldrop of Dallas; Harold Thomas Waldrop, Jr. and his wife Donna of Frisco, TX; daughter: Sarah Robinson and her husband John of Grayson; four step-sons: Tony Wyant of Columbia, Jeff Wyant of Columbia, Steve Wyant of West Monroe, and Bill Wyant of Gidding, TX; seven grandchildren: Sherry Robinson, Lora Whiting, Matthew Waldrop, Adam Waldrop, Caroline Degarma, Tiffany Waldrop, and Bryan Waldrop; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Matthew Waldrop, Adam Waldrop, Bryan Waldrop, Steve Wyant, Tony Wyant, Dillon Fabacher, and Walter Lester.
