Obituary of Leto Lanius III

Graveside services for Leto Lopez Lanius, III, 71 of Baton Rouge, LA will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Jena Cemetery in Jena, LA with Brother Mike Poole officiating. Arrangements are being coordinated by Riser Funeral Home. Mr. Lanius was born February 24, 1942, in Monroe, LA as the eldest son to Leto 'Buddy' Lanius, Jr and Ethel Tradewell Lanius and passed away on April 27, 2013 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Lanius was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie Lorraine Lanius; a son, Christopher Ryan Lanius and his mother-in-law, Thelma Blackmore. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Blackmore Lanius; two sons, Thomas Lanius and wife, Lyda and William Lanius and wife, Trisha; a daughter, Lori Lanius Dye and husband, Rick; a step-daughter, Christina Morales Blount and husband, Jason; and a step-son, George Blackmore. His father-in-law, George Blackmore and wife, Edie. Seven grandchildren: Erin, William and Hunter Lanius; Hallie Dye; and Destiny, Desiree and Elijah Blount. A brother, Tommy Lanius and wife, Sheila; two sisters-in-law: Melody Smith and Andrea White, and husband, Fred. Three nieces: Gretchen Tiser and husband, Jason; Leigh Hancock and husband, Jeff; and Heather Malone and husband, Matt. And his beloved dog, Beaux. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Baton Rouge General Hospital and The Carpenter House who cared for him throughout his illness.
