Obituary of E.W. Williams

E.W. Williams passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Seegers Williams; his two sons: Bruce Williams of Monroe, and Ken Williams and wife Renee of Norcross, Georgia; four grandsons: Michael Williams and wife Mary Beth, Stephen Williams and fiancée Rachel Davis, John Mark Williams and Seth Williams, all of Norcross, Georgia; his brother and sister-in-law, Lavelle and Dean Williams of Milton, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws: Sidney and Carolyn Seegers, and Kathryn Seegers Hutchinson, all of Monroe. E.W. was born in 1926 at his family home south of Junction City, Louisiana, to parents Ernie and Minnie Williams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas from 1954-1956. Prior to and following his military service, E.W. was employed by Arkansas Power and Light (now Entergy) in El Dorado, Arkansas, for 39 years, until his retirement in 1988. He retired to Milton, Florida where he lived for eighteen years. Eight of those years he served as Salvation Army Representative for Santa Rosa County. In 2006 he moved to Monroe, Louisiana. Services will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe. Visitation will be at the church, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., preceding the services. Burial will follow at the Columbia Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Rene' Salomon, Stewart Shelby, Will Shelby, Doug Seegers, George Walker, Curtis Williams and Daryl Williams. Please make any planned memorials to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1901 Lexington Avenue, Monroe, LA 71201.
