Obituary of Billie Marie Nelson

Funeral services for Billie Marie Gathright Nelson, age 88 of Jena, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, June 13, 2013 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Tullos with Bro. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Nelson Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Olla from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mrs. Nelson was born on March 26, 1925 in Norphlett, AR to the union of her parents, Alfred Perry and Shirley Brewer Gathright and passed from this life on June 10, 2013 at Promise Hospital in Vidalia. She had many hobbies including: scrap booking, jigsaw puzzles and Bingo. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tullos and of the Urania Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Christopher Nelson; brother, Glen Gathright and sister, Jo Ann Keeling. Survivors include her sons: Gary Nelson and wife, Vickie of Huntsville, TX and Perry Nelson and wife, Suzan of Jena; grandchildren: Christopher Nelson, William Nelson, Natasha Edwards, Justin Edwards and wife, Velta and Stetson Edwards and wife, Lauren and great-grandchildren: Sela Nelson, Dreyke Edwards, Allie Jones, Olivia Edwards, Alba Edwards and Molly Edwards and her special companion, "Jake," her chocolate lab. Pallbearers will be Heath Lee, Brett Hester, Justin Edwards, Bro. Donnie Boney, Buck Borland and Bro. Johnnie Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Tullos.
