Obituary of Jimmy Dortch

Funeral services for Jimmy R. Dortch, age 73 of Grayson will be held 2pm Saturday June 22, 2013 from the sanctuary of Holum Baptist Church with Rev. Julius O. Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery, west of Columbia. Visitation will be on Friday June 21, from 4pm until 8pm at the church, and on Saturday June 22 from 10am until time of service. Jimmy Ralford Dortch was born on January 19, 1940 at Columbia, LA to the union of his parents Willie Nathan Dortch and Monique Washer Dortch. He passed from this life on Thursday June 20, 2013 at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe following an extended illness. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and was a retired heavy equipment operator. Survivors include his beloved wife, Gayle Bassett Dortch of Grayson, his son, James Dortch and wife Tishea of Angelton, Texas; two daughters, Amy Fletcher and husband Arthur of Grayson, Carla Miles and husband Mike Schiller of College Station, Texas; two brothers, Johnny Dortch of Bastrop, and Tommy Dortch of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Kenny Dortch, Dual Simmons, Paige Simmons, Bailie Dortch, Caleb Dortch, Brooklyn Hatten, Abigayle Hatten , and Megan Miles; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter Dortch, Zoey Dortch, Alison Whitely and Aiden Whitely. Pallbearers will be Terry Johnson, Dalton Johnson, Josh Sant, Kenneth Jewell, Ken Williamson, and Jason Watts. Words of condolence may be sent at riserfuneralhomes.com
