Obituary of Olavee Jackson

Funeral services for Mrs. Olavee Roark Jackson age 87 of Grayson will be held 10 am Friday from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia. Olavee Roark Jackson was born on August 5, 1923 in Caldwell Parish to the union of Charlie Roark and Ola Cockerham Roark. She passed from this life on Wednesday April 6, 2011 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Ray Jackson. She was a member of the Grayson Methodist Church, and she retired from the Texas School Systems as Cafeteria Manager for the Port Neches School District before moving to Grayson, LA.. She was a member of the Red Hat Society at the Haven Nursing Home in Columbia. Survivors include: Two sons: Kenneth Jackson and wife Norva Lee of Grayson, and Ray Jackson and wife Jan of Vidor, Texas. Five grandchildren: Ladd Jackson and wife Taylor; Cassandra Jackson, Hank Jackson and wife Candice; Les Welch and wife Janice; and Julie Dabbs and husband Donald. She also leaves five great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be: Craig Roark, Robert Knight, Hank Jackson, Chris Wheeler, Wayne Nelson, and Donald Dabbs. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Pankaj S. Shroff and all employees of Citizens Medical Center. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Pankaj Shroff and the staff of Citizens Medical Center and the Haven Nursing Center for the excellent care they provided Ms. Olavee.
