Obituary of Travis Kirby
Funeral services for Travis Oliver Kirby age 77 of Hebert will be held 10 am Sunday July 21, 2013 from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Saturday July 20, 2013 at the church from 5 pm until 9 pm. Travis Oliver Kirby was born on June 19, 1936 in Franklin Parish, Louisiana to the union of his parents Eddie M. Kirby and Ollie Eliza (Barfield) Kirby. He passed from this life on Friday July 19, 2013 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe following an extended illness. Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, by his son Jimmy Dale Kirby; by his great grandson, Madison Blake Kirby, and by his brothers, Thomas, William, and Nolan Kirby. Travis was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Travis was loved by everyone who knew him and will be sorely missed. Left to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Ruby Fisher Kirby of Hebert; his son, Roger Kirby and wife Tammy of Columbia; his daughter, Renae Nugent of Columbia; two step-sons: Mike Rooker and wife Lyn of Carencro; Jeff Rooker and wife Jen of St. Martinville; three step daughters: Ladean Harris and husband Donnie of Baton Rouge, Joe Renda Williams and Donnie of Lafayette; and Theresa Mills and husband Donnie of Clarks.; two brothers: Ernie Kirby of Clarks and Shelton Kirby of Odessa, Texas; five sisters: Margie Scott of Crowville, Hattie McNemar of Smithville, MS; Eunice Taliaferro of Odessa, Texas; Mary Lulu Walters of Crowville; and Beverly McNutt of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Logan Edwards, Jarrod Flores, Brandon Kirby and six step grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Rod Shipp, Shannon Franklin, Coty Clark, Dwight Lovelady, Billy Ray Jones, and Billy Joe Poole. Honorary pallbearers include Robert Washam and Benny Washam.
