Obituary of Donald "Donnie" Legg

Funeral services for Donald Murrell "Donnie" Legg, age 69 of Clarks, LA will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 14, 2013 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Rev. Sherman Jones and Bro. Jack McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Clarks. Visitation will be Friday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia from 4 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Legg was born on August 31, 1944 in Columbia, LA and passed away after a lengthy illness on September 11, 2013 at his residence. Donnie was a former carpenter for Caldwell Parish for many years until he had a massive heart attack and the later received a heart transplant for which he had for sixteen years. He was currently employed by the Caldwell Parish Recreation Center where he enjoyed many hours talking and drinking coffee with all his buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Vergie Legg of Clarks; brother, Jimmy Legg of Clarks and nephew, Richard Word of Grayson,two good friends Benny Ray Cruse and Bobby Jean Fitzgerald. Donnie was a loving family man whom loved God and touched many people with his kind heart. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dianne May Legg; son, Lance Legg; daughter, Kim Nappier and husband, Mike; brothers: Buck Legg and wife, Lorraine and Larry Legg and wife, Lori; sister, Betty Word and husband, Marlon; three grandchildren: Storm Nappier, Destiny Nappier and Ridge Nappier and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Heath Legg, Jeremy Carter, Storm Nappier, Gordon Frasier, Vernon McMillon, Eric Ford, Roger Cox and Greg Nappier. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Price, Ken Jackson, Robert Knight, Jimmy Ratcliff, Ridge Nappier, Edge Rogers, and Bro. John Burroughs. Any planned memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
