Obituary of Velma Chlotine Johnston Crain
.Funeral services for Velma Chlotine Johnston Crain, age 81, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2013 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Freeman Crain, Bro. Ed Smith, and Bro. Jack McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Old Hebron Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Velma was born November 15, 1931 in Winnfield to James Arthur and Velma Gregory Johnston and she passed from this life on September 18, 2013 at St Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in Hebert. She was a devoted wife and mother and was very faithful to her family. She loved to hunt and fish. She was preceded in death by her husband: Isaac Milton "Pete" Crain; sister: Lorene Coates; two brothers: Jack Johnston and Billy Johnston; her parents.
She is survived by two sons: Freeman Crain and his wife Sheila of Columbia; Bo Crain and his wife Connie of Grayson; daughter: Norma Sue Grantham of Bossier City; brother: Lloyd Johnston and his wife Linda of West Monroe; three sisters-in-laws: Ruby Johnston, Vorrine Hatten and DeWanna Johnston; grandchildren: Darrell Crain, Regena Cobb, and Nick Crain; great-grandchildren: Cody, Taylor, and Ethan.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Johnston, Robert Johnston, Terry Johnston, Lynn Meredith, David Williams, and Julian Johnston.
