Obituary of Melvin Ashley

Graveside services for Mr. Melvin Ashley, age 68 of Olla, formerly of Berwick, LA will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 25, 2013 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Sikes, LA with Pastor Betsy Honeycutt officiating. Mr. Ashley was born on November 6, 1944 in Centerville, LA to the union of his parents the late, Steven Persilver Ashley and the late Ella Sauce Ashley and passed from this life on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA. He worked as boat Captain and attended Oasis Full Gospel Church. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Crochet Ashley of Olla; son, Darren Ashley and wife, Tammy of Morgan City; daughter, Melissa Ashley Eubanks and husband, Larry of Olla; sister, Regina Hamilton and husband, Kenneth of Bayou Louis; four grandchildren: Joshua Ashley (Katie), Daniel Eubanks, Emily Eubanks Emfinger (Casey), Kaylin Ashley Richard (Lucas); two great-grandchildren, Blaze Ashley and Gunner Luke Emfinger and two special friends: Justin Cavallier and Sidney Concieno. Pallbearers will be Darren Ashley, Larry Eubanks, Daniel Eubanks, Joshua Ashley, Lucas Richard and Casey Emfinger.
