Obituary of Helen Wallace
Funeral services for Helen L. Wallace, age 83, of Urania will be held 3:00 PM Friday, November 15, 2013 from the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Tullos; with the Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Urania Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia and Olla. Visitation will be on Thursday November 14, 2013 at the church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Helen Louise Wallace was born on July 5, 1930 in Texas to the union of her parents, Marvin Hitt and Thelma Hitt. She passed from this life on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the LaSalle Nursing Center in Jena following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter Sharon Louise Wallace. Helen was best known by so many people for her work with Dr. Bryant Thompson, DDS in Olla for so many years until Dr. Thompson retired. She loved music and singing, needle point, and she was known for her wonderful cooking. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother ; and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory: her husband , Florence Monroe Wallace of Urania; her son: Dale Wallace and wife, Suhan of Monroe; her daughter: Sheryl (Wallace) Richardson and husband, Steven of Urania; her grandchildren: Christopher Wallace and wife, Amanda of West Monroe, Craig Wallace of Monroe, Ryan Richardson of West Monroe, Sean Richardson and wife, Sarah of Milledgeville, GA; and great-grandchildren: Jessie, Caleb, Abigail and Keith Wallace.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Emfinger, Glen Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Sean Richardson, Steven Richardson,and Robert Lurry. Honorary pallbearers include Christopher Wallace and Craig Wallace.
In lieu of Flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, the Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home, Monroe; Tullos First Baptist Church, or a charity of one's choice.
