Obituary of Catherine Warford
Catherine "Granny" Marie Bratton Warford, (79), having grown up and lived in Caldwell Parish went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at her residence in Sevierville, TN.
Born January 10, 1934, Catherine was the ninth (9) child of the late David and Leona Bratton of Kelly, Louisiana. She married Grady R. Warford of Columbia, on May 10, 1952. Together they raised their family in Columbia before moving to Shreveport in 1978. Always curious and eager to see new places, Catherine loved to travel and experience living in new locations. She enjoyed living in San Diego, Ca., Hingham, Ma., Orange Park & Milton, Fl., and Lawrenceville, Ga. before settling in the Smoky Mountain Area in 2005. Over the course of her life, she traveled across the US with her family visiting each of the 48 lower states along with Alaska. She enjoyed trips to Canada and Mexico as well. Most of all she enjoyed being with family especially the grandchildren. Catherine, always concerned for the health and wellbeing of her family, friends, and patients, was a conscientious, dedicated nurse for over 30 years. She worked many years at Caldwell Hospital, E. A. Conway Hospital, Schumpert Medical Center, along with medical facilities in San Diego, Orange Park, and Boston before retiring in 1996.
Left to cherish her memory are those she loved and cared for: her husband Grady; along with their four children: Jason Warford of Johns Creek Georgia, Rebecca Cimino of Los Angeles California, Carol Warford, and Andrea Wright both of Sevierville Tennessee. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters, brothers, and close friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm on December 31, 2013 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Julius Russell and Bro. Rick Crandall officiating. Visitation will begin at 12pm until service. Interment to follow at Old Union Cemetery in Grayson.
Pallbearers will be James McKeithen, Jr., Sidney Eubanks, James Bratton, Benny Eugene Bratton, Mitch Bratton, and Larry Bratton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of your choice. However, the family would like to suggest to honor Catherine by doing something special for someone else since that is what brought her the most joy.
