Obituary of Helen Smith Parmer

Helen Smith Parmer, age 81, of LaPorte, TX formerly of Monroe, LA, passed away January 8, 2014 peacefully in her sleep. Mrs. Parmer is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years: Clyde Parmer; son: Gordon Ray Parmer. She was known fondly to friends and loved ones simply as "Miss Helen". She was a devoted wife, mother, and caretaker. Leaving to cherish her memory, her daughter: Diane Garrison and dearly loved son-in-law and friend: Frank Garrison; sister: Alpha Ford; brother-in-law: Edward Parmer; nephew: Dennis Parmer; daughter-in-law: Linda Clark; as well as a treasure chest of friends and loved ones. She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and gifts so lovingly made with her hands... having learned early on the ability to create those gifts brought healing to the human spirit. We rejoice in knowing she is now in heaven with her dear ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Warren Maxwell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery west of Columbia.
