Obituary of James Murphy

Funeral services for James Murphy, age 72 of Grayson, will be held at 10 AM Friday, February 14, 2014 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Bro. Jack McKeithen and Sis. Dottie Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA. Visitation will be Thursday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA from 5 PM to 7 PM. Mr. Murphy was born in Shreveport, LA and raised in Iowa, LA by his Father and Mother, the late John and Mildred Murphy. He enjoyed a childhood filled with memories of growing up with three sisters and numerous close relatives. He was a graduate of Iowa High School and Northeast Louisiana University. He was a teacher and football coach in several high schools in northeast Louisiana. He was also a GED instructor and an avid LSU fan. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Suebelle McKeithen Murphy and one daughter, Mary Catherine Murphy Lasiter. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, twin girls, Vivian Belle and Victoria Jean Lasiter and sisters: Linda Robicheaux, Jeanette Holcek and Suzanne Kovac. Pallbearers will be Jeff McKeithen, John Wesley McKeithen, John Patterson, Justin Lasiter, Stan Wyant, Mark Smith and Todd Patterson.
