Jennie Reynolds Crump of Synope Plantation died about dawn Sunday, June 29th, 2008. Jennie learned her charm, graciousness, and love of the arts from her late mother, Jennie Martin Reynolds and her calm, wisdom and sense of justice from her late father, Odie Neal Reynolds.
Jennie was a seeker her entire life not bound by traditional southern lady roles. She was the first female animal husbandry major at her alma mater, Louisiana Tech University. Her bookshelf reflects an eclectic collection of nonfiction, all focusing on enrichment of life through arts, the world of meditation, and openness .
Jennie was the chief operating partner for the Reynolds Family Partnership for over 40 years. Along with her late husband and high school sweetheart, John Wesley Crump, she raised cattle, crops, pulp wood, and participated actively in her community. Jennie served as co-chair of the Louisiana Art and Folk Festival for 40 years, chairman of the board of the Martin Homeplace and a member of the Caldwell Parish Library Board.
At age 50 she created "Easy Going," a custom tour company that led groups throughout the world and in her words "drank coffee on the docks of San Francisco, Miami, and Copenhagen" meeting and enjoying the people of the world.
She is survived by her son, John Wesley Crump IV, his wife Kathy and grandsons John and Forrest; her daughter, Anna Crump Gregory, her husband Mark and grandsons, James and Christopher; her brother, Odie Neal Reynolds, Jr.; and her sister, Jorenda Reynolds Stone.
Her family thanks her caregivers, Elaine Cole, Otis Blanson, Erma Keaton, and Patrick Barber whose ministrations allowed her to remain at home and die naturally at Synope.
