Obituary of Kathy Jones LaFrance Merritt
Funeral services for Kathy Jones LaFrance Merritt, age 51, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 10, 2014 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Wesley Manning officiating. Curt LaFrance will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
Kathy was born March 10, 1963 to James LaCoste and Emily LaFrance in Monroe and she passed from this life on April 6, 2014 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
She was full of life and she enjoyed people. She loved to cook and she took care of her many "adopted" children. She loved her animals very much. She was preceded in death by her grandmother: Katherine Funderburke; uncle: Harold LaCoste; close friend: Michael McDonald.
She is survived by her husband: Mat Merritt of West Monroe; daughters: Lauren LaFrance Corley and her husband Mat of Grayson; Alex Jones and her fiance James Boudreaux of Grayson, Casey Jones Thompson of Grayson and their father, Shawn Jones; her father: James LaCoste and his wife Barbara of Zachary, LA; mother: Emily LaFrance and her husband Billy of Texas; brother: Curt LaFrance of Rhode Islad; sisters: Gretchen Preston and her husband Clay of Round Rock, TX; Karen Lacoste Carter of Zachary, LA; Kimberly LaCoste of Marksville; Allison Quaid Hughes of Winnsboro; grandchildren: Abbigale Beckley, Remington Corley, and Cameron Corley, all of Grayson; nephews: Chase Carter, Brandon LaCoste, Skylar Hughes, Will LaFrance, and Zach Smith; niece: Erica Madison; family friend: Scott Young.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Brooks, Reggie Roquemore, Kevin Floyd, Severan Girod, Anthony Noland, and Dustin McClanahan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Del Lee and Josh Powell.
Donations may be made to Riser Funeral Home to help with the burial expense.
