Obituary of Hallie B. Sims

Funeral services for Hallie B. Sims, age 99 of Olla, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday April 21, 2014 at Olla First Baptist Church with Bro. Johnnie Phillips and Bro. Eddie Riley officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery. Hallie was born October 10, 1914 to J.I. And Ludie Stringer Blake in Catahoula Parish and she passed from this life on April 19, 2014 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. She was a homemaker and was a member of Olla First Baptist Church for 80 years where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was active in the Pinewood Garden Club, WMU, and the LaSalle Home Demonstration Club. She was involved in arts and crafts and was an avid quilter. She was preceded in death by her husband: E.E. "Major"Sims; son: Blake Sims; her parents; brother: J.D. "Buddy" Blake. She is survived by her daughter: Sue S. Winberry and her husband Kenneth of Olla; sister: Gwen B. Armistead of Moss Bluff, LA; daughter-in-law: Ann Sims of Olla; grandchildren: Joel Sims and his wife Jackie and Kristy Curry and her husband Kelly; great-grandchildren: Josh Sims, Hunter Sims, Macie Rogers and her husband Quin, Kelsey Curry, and Kendall Curry. One great-grandchild: Brady Rogers; special nephew: Gilbert Sims. Pallbearers will be Joel Sims, Josh Sims, Hunter Sims, Kelly Curry, Jack Womack, and Bob Allbritton.
