Obituary of Dorothy Nowlin
Services for Mrs. Dorothy Humphries Nowlin, age 83 of Winnfield, will be 10 AM Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Tullos with Bro. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery in Tullos. Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2008 from 6 to 9 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Olla. Mrs. Nowlin was born November 11, 1924 in Bristol, England to the union of William Arthur and Lucy Nora Jefferis Humphries Candy and passed away on July 23, 2008, at Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winnfield. She came to the United States in 1945 and settled in Tullos with her husband. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Tullos. She was affectionately known by family and friends as "Granny." She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Lester Ray Nowlin, her step-father, Charlie Candy and her brother, Victor Arthur Humphries. Survivors include her two daughters; Debie Dunn and her husband, John of Shreveport, Kathy Bates and her husband, Rickey of Winnfield, her two sons; Bobby Nowlin and his wife, Roberta of Natchitoches, Mike Nowlin and his wife, Beverly of Tullos, her sister, Betty Kirby and her husband, Doug of Bristol, England, eleven grandchildren; Tiffany Iber and her husband, Jeff of Rosepine, Heather Nowlin of Leesville, Crystal Nowlin and Katie Nowlin both of Natchitoches, Stephanie Dunn of Shreveport, Christopher Dunn of Leesville, Heath Sellers and his wife, Julie of Winnfield, Tammy Stroud and her husband, Scott of Winnfield, Jennifer Nowlin of Olla, Jeffrey Nowlin and his wife, Beth of Winnfield, Angela Gange and her husband, Guy of Jena, sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Pallbearers are John David Dunn, Rickey Bates, Dougie Murphrey, Scott Cockerham, Guy Gange and John Thornton. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tullos.
