Obituary of Michael Dunn

Visitation for Michael Allen Dunn, 51, of Wisner, Louisiana, will be held at 8:30 AM, Saturday, June 21st at Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral mass will be held following visitation at 10 AM at St. John Catholic Church in Columbia Heights with Father James Nellikunnel officiating. Interment will follow in the Columbia Hill Cemetery. Mike, the son of the late Marilyn Mann and Billy Dunn, was born on July 22, 1962 in Monroe and died Friday, April 25, 2014 at LSU Hospital in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. Mike was a forestry economist and worked at LSU Agricultural Center for a number of years. He graduated from Caldwell Parish High School, Northeast Louisiana University, Louisiana Tech University, and earned his doctorate at Auburn University. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Mann, his maternal grandparents, G. A. Mann and Mary Alice Shipp Mann, his paternal grandparents, Creston C. Dunn and Eula Blackmon Dunn, and his uncle, George Allen Mann all of Columbia. Survivors include his father, Billy Dunn and wife, Palmyra of Alytus, Lithuania; his sister Jennifer Willis and her husband, Lee and their daughter, Creston and son, Jordan all of Alexandria; Gray and Meloney Martin, of Rayville, his cousins and friends were his companions throughout his ordeal. He will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the folks at Mary Anna nursing home in Wisner for the care they gave Mike in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John Catholic Church, Post Office Box 58, Winnsboro, Louisiana 71295.
