Obituary of Mary Smith

Funeral services for Mary Miles Smith, age 70 of Grayson, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 8, 2014 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Jack McKeithen officiating and Pete McCarty delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Little Star Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Mrs. Smith was born on September 30, 1943 in Urania, LA to the union of Hollis Eugene and Nettie Mills Miles and passed from this life on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. She was a homemaker and member of Little Star Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed cooking and helping others. She loved her spouse, kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Essie Kleinlein and brother, John Joseph Miles. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 52 years, Gilbert "Gil" Smith, Sr. of Grayson; son, Gilbert Lee Smith, Jr and Shirley Denise Smith of Jena; two daughters, Suzie Wilson and husband, David of Jena and Missy Finley and husband, Darren of Columbia; brother, Hollis Eugene Miles, Jr. and wife, Cindy of AR; four sisters: Yvonne Morrow and husband, Donnie of Tullos, Bobbie Vistine and husband, Tony of Crowley, TX, Barbara Parsons and husband, Joe of Fort Worth, TX and Beth Nusbaum and husband, Dave of Elkheart, IN; grandchildren: Justin Wilson, Dusty Smith, Derek Wilson, Daniel Smith, Kyle Smith and Amber Walters and great-grandchildren: Hunter Wilson, Bryce Wilson, Scotty Smith, Gabriella Smith and Ayden Walters. Pallbearers will be Dusty Smith, Derek Wilson, Daniel Smith, Ryan Creel, Steven Masters and Andrew Walters. Honorary pallbearers will be Hollis Miles, Jr., Tony Vistine, Joe Parsons, Dave Nusbaum and Donnie Morrow.
