Obituary of Donnie Joe Caldwell

Donnie Joe Caldwell, age 77, passed from this life on May 12, 2014 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe due to complications from a lengthy illness. He was born to the union of P.M. Caldwell and Carrie Dortch Caldwell. Donnie was born and raised in Columbia, LA. He worked pipelines and at saw mills most of his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Many people will remember him for his humorous stories. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Lucy Caldwell; his eldest daughter: Donnie Fay Caldwell Marcum; his parents. Survivors include his three daughters: Theresa Caldwell Caravalho, Judy Caldwell Spells, and Peggy Bishop; two sons: Joe Paul Caldwell and Calvin "Bobo" Coates, Jr,; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Edwin Jones, Donnie Jones, Michael Caldwell, Aaron Evans, Joshua Griggs, and Justin Primm. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joey Michael McMurray, Derek Lee Coates, Justice Masoner, and Jaden Masoner. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor Kristy Dunn officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery west of Columbia.
