Memorial services for Mary Lucy Fulton (Lucy) are pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Columbia, The Salvation Army, The Columbia Hill Cemetery or a charity of your choice. Mary Lucy Fulton was born on September 10, 1914 in Kilmichael, Mississippi to the union of Zack Felton and Nancy Maude Curtis Felton. She grew up in Como, Mississippi as the beloved daughter of a section foreman of the Illinois Central Railroad and a homemaker, both active members of their church and in the civic life of their community. Lucy attended Copiah-Lincoln Jr. College where she completed high school and continued college study. In 1939, she met and married the love of her life, J.B. Fulton while he was working as an electrician on the Sardis Dam. After Pearl Harbor, she spent most of her marriage as a Navy wife moving from coast to coast and back again. Lucy enjoyed her life, her friends and family. She shared her many talents of music and crafts. She looked forward to the various changes in her life as wondrous adventures and blessings. She touched an abundance of people with her boundless love, laughter and sharp wit. In response to the question "How are you doing?" she replied "I'd do as I pleased….if I did not have so much d*** interference!" Lucy became a valued member of each new community through service to church, school and civic organizations. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Columbia, The Wesleyan's, Eastern Star and a founding member of the Caldwell Parish Garden Club. She served as the director of the Council on Aging and served on the board of the Caldwell Country Club. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Columbia Hill Cemetery Board. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jesse Ben Fulton; brother, Derwood C. Felton; sister, Sara Nell Tatum; brother-in-law, Marion Taylor Tatum; and niece, Claire Tatum Palestina. Among the many who will miss her are two children: daughter, BJo Fulton of Columbia, and son, Jesse Ben Fulton and wife, Charlotte of Lakewood, Washington, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A true celebration of her life was enjoyed as a surprise party for her ninety-fifth birthday. A community of friends and relatives overwhelmed and overjoyed her with their outpouring of love and tribute that surprised her and warmed her heart. Thank you all for the beautiful memories. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hardtner Medical Center, Jorie Sanford-FNP, Dr. Jeffrey Stirnemann, Kenneth and Norva Jackson, Pastor Ben McGehee, Ann Garsee, Kim LeTeff, Ellen Dubose, David Holland, Hospice Compassus, Amy McKenzie, Shari Jones, United Home Care, the Caldwell Parish Deputies and the many others who have offered their prayers and support.
