Obituary of Shad Proffer

Shad Donald Proffer age 40 of Pollock and formerly of Olla passed from this life on Monday June 16, 2014 at his residence following a long battle with Type I Diabetes. Shad was born on February 24, 1974 at Alexandria, LA to the union of his parents Gerald Donald Proffer and Polly Sue Ruddell Proffer. Shad was currently employed as an Oilfield Consultant. Shad was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed building his own duck calls. He also loved to fish on the creek, loved to collect guns, and he was most proud of being an Eagle Scout in his early life. His mother and dad was so very proud of this accomplishment. Shad was preceded in death by his mother, Polly Sue Ruddell Proffer and by his brother Paul Nichols. Shad was loved by his family and the void his vacancy in their lives, leaves can never ever be filled. Left to cherish his memory: his daughter: Madison Proffer of Olla; his father: Donald Proffer of Olla; his brother: David Nichols and wife Jenny of Ball; his sister: Donna Kay Hays and husband Stephen of Start; and four nephews: Hunter Hays, Matt Hays, Christopher Hays, and Dawson Nichols. The Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday June 21, 2014 at the Chickasaw Cemetery east of Olla. Friends may begin to gather at the cemetery at 1:30 pm.
