Obituary of Waylon May

Services for Waylon Elmo May, age 74 of Columbia will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from the Fellowship Baptist Church west of Columbia with Rev. Chuck Stapleton, Rev. Mike Green and Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mr. May was born on January 12, 1934 in Caldwell Parish to the union of Marion Mayfield and Odessa Stamper May and died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law: Nelda and Harold Griggs and his brother: Al. Survivors include his wife: Mary McKee May of Columbia, his sons: Louis E. May and his wife: Beverly of Columbia, Marion May and his wife: Sharon of Columbia, Marcus May of Baton Rouge and Donnie May of Prairieville, his daughters: Sharon Sievers and her husband: Jeff of Monroe, Donna Curtis and her husband: Johnny of Baton Rouge, his step- children: Raymond Hodges of Columbia, Aaron Smith of Magnolia, MS and Anita Sones and her husband: Harold of Harrisonburg, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Eugene and Charlene May and Everette and Pat May all of Columbia, his sisters and brothers-in-law: Gloria and Lowery Herrington of Vidalia, Louise and Earl Powers of Winnsboro and Yvonne McKeithen of Baton Rouge, twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Rick Richmond, Joe May, Gaylon May, Gene May, Jr., Steve May and Cleston Fisher. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Carr, James Strange, Robert Gwin and James Slater. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church west of Columbia.
