Obituary of Delmar Gilliam
Funeral services for Delmar R. Gilliam, age 76, of Olla will be held 10:00 am Wednesday October 29, 2014 from the sanctuary of Olla United Methodist Church with Rev. Aaron Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Chickasaw Cemetery east of Olla under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday October 28, 2014 from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm.
Delmar Ray Gilliam was born on July 14, 1938 in Olla, LA to the union of his parents, Roy Sam Gilliam and Riti Marie Tannehill Gilliam, and he passed from this life on October 27, 2014 at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania following an extended illness. Delmar attended the United Methodist Church in Olla, and was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife: Linda M. Gilliam of Olla; son: Michael Gilliam and wife Kim of Winnfield; his daughter: Kathy G. McCarty and husband Randy of Tullos, five grandchildren: Amber Dickey and husband Don, Caleb McCarty and wife Kali, Crystal Sonnier and husband Charles, Tori Tullos and husband Travis, Stefanie Creel and husband Eric; thirteen great-grandchildren: Braden, Dyllan, Tanner, Zack, Gracie, Stuart, Randi, Canyon, Lottie Rose, Parker, Rayne, Deacon, and Mariah.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Charles Sonnier, Eric Creel, Ricky Stott, Randy Stott, John Stott, and Calvin "Bull" Barnhill. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Stott, Buddy Harris, Gary Taylor, Ronald Cruse, and all of his special friends .
The Gilliam Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. K. P. Mauterer and the entire staff of Hardtner Medical Center for the kindness, love, care and concern that was displayed to Delmar during the duration of his illness.
In lieu of flowers any planned memorials should be made to the Olla United Methodist Church, Olla, LA.
