Obituary of Velma Watson

Services for Velma Hale Watson, age 90 of Hebert will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2008 from the Bethany Baptist Church in Hebert with Bro. Billy McClanahan officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Watson was the youngest of thirteen children born to the union of Lucious Elonzo and Parmelia Hutchinson Hale on April 30, 1918 and died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard 'Slick" Watson, her son: Wallace Watson and her grandsons: Dale Watson and Joey McMurray. Survivors include her son: Jay Watson, Sr. and his fiancé: Sandy Wilhite of Hebert, her daughters and sons-in-law: Ramona Lynn and Randy Gilmore of Hebert and Vanessa and Billy Lane McClanahan of Hebert, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Courtney Dunn, Jay Watson, Jr., Richard Watson, Michael Czudek, J.T. Maxwell and Chad Hale.
