Obituary of Lorene Laffoon

Funeral services for Lorene Laffoon, age 79 of Clarks, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 4, 2015 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Richard Smith and Rev. Charles Laurant officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Lorene was born July 14, 1935 to Lorey A. and Hattie Stapleton Lowery in Columbia and she passed from this life on January 1, 2015 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. She was a retired cafeteria worker. She was of the Pentecostal faith. The joy of her life was her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to work in the garden and her flower garden. She also loved to fish. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years: Dewey Laffoon; son: Shannon Laffoon; daughter: Lisa Laffoon; her parents; two brothers: Junior Lowery and Waymond Lowery; three sisters: Hazel Futch, Laverne Sims, and Voncille Parker. She is survived by two daughters: Teresa "Coco" Ferguson of Clarks; Nelda Jordan and her husband Tim of Joyce; four sisters: Lenora Peterson of Grayson; Vigie Guerrero and her husband Albert of Columbia; Glenda Sims of Longview Heights, Texas; Edith Smith and her husband Larryof West Monroe; two brothers: DeWayne Lowery and his wife Lynette of Columbia; John Lowery and his wife Sue of Florida; daughter-in-law: Sheila Laffoon; grandchildren: April Black and her husband Steven of Columbia; Katie Jones and her husband Gary of Clarks; Jordan Laffoon and Whitney Love of Clarks; Ethan Townsend of China; Abigail Ferguson of Clarks; Lisa Smith and her husband Andrew of Columbia; Jonathan Ferguson and Eleni Parker of of Clarks; great-grandson: Mathew Black of Columbia; great-granddaughter: Lillian "Lilly" Ferguson of Clarks. Pallbearers will be Austin Peterson, Jonathan Ferguson, Jordan Laffoon, Gary Jones, Andrew Boyd, and Clint Townsend.
