Obituary of Mavis Monroe

Funeral services for Mavis Vivian Monroe, age 87 of Grayson will be held 10:00 am Saturday January 10, 2015 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson . Visitation will be on Friday January 9, 2015 at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Mavis Vivian Monroe was born on November 7, 1927 at Clarks, Louisiana to the union of Lee Thompson and Katie Mae Whitecel Thompson, and she passed from this life on Wednesday January 7, 2015 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her two husbands: James Brewer and Hardy Monroe and by a son: Brian Brewer, and by her parents. She was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish. Left to cherish her memory is her sons, Carlton Brewer and wife Goldie of Baton Rouge, LA and Harland Monroe and wife Kelly of Moore, Oklahoma; her grandchildren: Jason Brewer and companion Stevey Gregory of Grayson, Carlton Hammonds of San Antonio, Texas, Jada Brewer of Baton Rouge, and Brandy Terrell and husband Sherman of Olla; and a host of great-grandchildren including Lance Brewer of Baton Rouge.
