Obituary of Leonard Beckley

Funeral services for Leonard Russell Beckley, age 56 of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 22, 2015 from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Roads Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Cross Roads Baptist Church from 5 PM to 8 PM. Russell Beckley was born on September 2, 1958 in Monroe, LA to the union of James Henry Beckley and Nancy Lucille Finley Beckley and passed from this life on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Plantation Manor in Winnsboro, LA. Russell enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He was a big hearted man that wanted to "learn you something" if you did not know about a certain subject or topic. He was born an outlaw and died an outlaw doing things his way. Russell enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and calling them by their nicknames. He greatly loved them and his children. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Henry Beckley, Jr., William "Sap" Beckley, Jimmy Beckley, Tommy Beckley; sister, Gertie Cook and brother-in-law, Carl Nugent. Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters: Sonya Beckley Crain and husband, Lance, Amy Beckley Taylor and husband, Michael and Carli Beckley Baum and husband, Chance; son, Michael Swett and wife, Jasmine; grandchildren: Preston "Son" Crain, Madalyn "Monkey Butt" Crain, Braxton "Boo Boo" Crain, Cece "Boogie" Baum, Calli "Calli Cat" Baum, Brandon "Buckie" Taylor, Kade Swett and Kole Swett; three sisters: Nancy Nugent, Sue Orr and husband, Keith and Toby Kilcrease; four brothers: Harris Ray Beckley and wife, Marlene, Beaver Beckley and wife, Cathy, Bobby Beckley and wife, Rebecca, and Jackie Beckley and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Preston Crain, Michael Taylor, Steve Beckley, Harold Beckley, Darren Beckley, Cameron Beckley, Caden Beckley and Cole Beckley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Beckley and Ben Beckley.
