Obituary of Marie Elizabeth Howell

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Marie Howell, age 73 of Monroe will be held 2:00 pm Sunday March 1, 2015 at the Burroughs Garden of Memories Cemetery, Columbia with Rev. Tom Lowe officiating the service. Services are under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Saturday February 28, 2015 at the Riser Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Marie Elizabeth Oliveaux Howell was born on February 21, 1942 in Caldwell Parish to the union of her parents, Carl "Sonny" Oliveaux and Mary Barnett Oliveaux, and she passed from this life on February 26, 2015 at her residence in Monroe following a brief illness. Marie was preceded in death by her parents. Marie was a family oriented individual, and the love that she extended to her family was immeasurable. She always gave of herself to her family, but the absolute light of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, loved hunting and fishing with her husband, and she was a well read person, as reading was one of her favorite past times. Marie will be missed greatly by those who loved her, but she will never be forgotten. She leaves a wonderful legacy behind in her absence. Left to cherish her memory, her husband: Charles W. Howell of Monroe; two daughters: Gwen Smith and husband Guy of West Monroe, and Lisa Mobley of West Monroe; her brother: Eugene Oliveaux and wife Mary of St. Francisville, LA; four grandchildren: Chess Hill, Dustin Campbell, Melissa Crowell, and Derek Mobley; and seven great-grandchildren: Connor Hill, Olivia Hill, Scarlet Hill, Harrison Hill, Haley Campbell, John John Crowell, and Carlee Campbell. Serving as pallbearers will be John Crowell, Dustin Campbell, Chess Hill, Derek Mobley, Tracey Howell, Walter Oliveaux, and Tyron Beckley.
