Obituary of William Tannehill

Funeral services for Mr. William M. "Billy" Tannehill age 87 of Urania will be held 11Am Monday from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with the Rev. E. R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Urania Cemetery at Urania. The family will receive visitors on Sunday evening from 5 to 9PM at the funeral home and on Monday from 10AM until time of service. William Morris Tannehill was born on Nov. 11, 1921 at Winnfield, La. to the union of his parents the late Clarence Eugene Tannehill and Bertie Foshee Tannehill . He passed from this life on Saturday December 13, 2008 at the St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria . Mr. Tannehill served in the South Pacific during World War II in the Army Air Corp where as a First Lt. he piloted a P 47. He was a retired employee of Urania Lumber Company which came to be known as Louisiana Pacific. He was an avid fisherman and carried his love of L S U to the highest possible level. He was a wonderful husband and loving father , and provider for his family. He married the love of his life Henrietta Emilie King on August 7, 1948 and from this union would come three children. Survivors include: Wife of sixty years Henrietta King Tannehill of Urania. One son- Steve Tannehill and wife Pam of Olla. Two daughters- Inez Fragala and husband John, Jr. of Archibald,La. , and Janet Matter and husband Terrell of Choudrant,La. Seven grandchildren- John William Fragala, Tyler Fragala and wife Mandy and their son Caden. Emily Ivy and daughter Macie. Stephanie T. Richmond and husband Matt, Prentice Tannehill, Jeffrey Matter, and William Matter.
