Obituary of Huey Cockerham

Funeral services for Huey Laverne Cockerham, age 75 of Olla, will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Standard Baptist Church, Olla, LA with Bro. Shad Tibbs and Bro. Jonathan Crist officiating. Interment will follow at Chickasaw Cemetery, Olla, LA. Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2015 at Standard Baptist Church from 5 PM to 9 PM. Mr. Cockerham was born in Olla, LA on August 26, 1939 to the union of Baxter and Katie Renfroe Cockerham and passed from this life on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Hardtner Medical Center, Urania, LA. Mr. Cockerham, who worked in the pulpwood industry, served as a member of the LaSalle Parish Police Jury for 14 years. He loved to fish, hunt and run his deer dogs. He also enjoyed cutting firewood and watching TV. He was a jokester and was always pulling a prank for a good laugh. He was a good father to his children and a good grandfather to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of them. Mr. Cockerham was a member of Standard Baptist Church in Olla, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kenneth Ray Anding; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Joe and Naomi Cockerham; a sister, Frances Westbrook; two great-grandsons: Dustin Anding and Hunter Wayne Guin; and a great-granddaughter, Breela Neal. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Leva Cockerham; three sons: Aubrey Anding, Roy Anding and wife, Pam, and Jerry Anding; three daughters: Joanne Greenfield and husband, Jim, Debbie Arnold, and Angie Dickey and husband, Gary, all of Olla; and three brothers: Kenneth Wayne Cockerham and wife, Brenda of Olla, Louis "Dumpy" Cockerham of Clarks, and W. B Cockerham and wife, Mary Helen of Jonesville. He is also survived by forty-one grandchildren, seventy-one great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and his special friend "George." Pallbearers will be Shawn Greenfield, Collin Hines, Sammy Hyde, Jo Jo Hyde, James Perot, Johnny Sullivan, Raymond Holmes, and Kenneth Anding, Jr.
