Obituary of Elva Tingle

Elva Tingle 93, a longtime resident of the Collierville, Tn and Cordova, Tn communities, died Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Elva was born at home in Holum La. in 1921 and educated at Grayson La. elementary and high school where she graduated in 1938. She then earned a double degree in English and Library Science at Louisiana Normal College in Nachitoches,La. She married Wilkins Tingle of the Copenhagen Prarire community in 1943 who preceded her in death in 2003. She was an avid gardener, a Siamese cat lover, an ardent supporter of the Shelby County 4-H club, a secretary for the Collierville ARRP club, a Sunday school teacher at Mullins Methodist Church, and wonderful mother and wife. She is survived by her sons Randy Tingle of Cape Griardeau, Gregg Tingle of Collierville, Tn., a sister Clois Witt of Thompson,Ga, four grandchildren, and many neices, nephews and their progeny. The funeral on Wednesday July 22 is at the Riser & Son Funeral Home in Columbia, La at 11:00 am, with interment at the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, La. to follow.Dr.Mickey Byrd will officiate the service and grandson Stratton Lee Tingle will be in charge of the music.The Tingle Family will receive guests in visitation beginning at 9:00 am Wednesday until time of service.Pallbearers include Milton Bulloch,Gary Warner, James Files,Johnny Files,Dillon Files and Jon Coscarart.
