Obituary of David McGinty

David McGinty, 69, of Columbia, Louisiana, died Friday, August 7, 2015 at his home. David was born February 12, 1946, in West Monroe, Louisiana to the late Joseph and Beulah McGinty. He was the youngest of 5 children born to this family. He was a member of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Navy Seaman E3. David was married to his best friend and loving wife, Patsy (Lowrey) McGinty for 46 years. Retired from Federal Aviation, he spent much of his time gardening, hunting, and fishing. Everyone enjoyed being around David, he was a bit of a prankster and always found a way to make you laugh. He would help anyone out in need and was happy to share his garden's bounty. David loved the Lord and was a member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James McGinty and Clayton McGinty, and sisters, Anne Nicolette and Cindy Brown. Survivors include his wife, Patsy McGinty and sister and brother-in-law Syble (McGinty) and Ira Lewis of Columbia, LA along with a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be conducted at Columbia Heights Baptist Church, Monday August 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery.
