Obituary of Sr. Adams

Funeral services for Chester Egbert Adams, Sr. age 81 of Olla, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Don Blackmon and Bro. Dennis Baker officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Sikes. Chester was born June 30, 1934 to Joseph Egbert and Myra Ola Johnson Adams in Sikes and he passed from this life on September 3, 2015 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a Shipping Supervisor at La Pacific and he loved to sing. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Herbert Adams and Richard Dolan Adams; sisters: Vaudeen Vickers, Rosalie Neal, Sammie Cox, and Ola Vee Adams.; grandson: Matthew Culberson; great grandson: Kristian Adams. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years: Gloria Lee Callendar Adams; children: Jeannie Gorham and her husband Lee Gorham of Sikes, LA; Karen Baker and her husband Dennis Baker of Ridgecrest, LA; Chester Adams, Jr. and his wife Julie Adams of Olla , LA; Lori Culberson and her husband Kenneth Culberson of Chandler, TX; grandchildren: DeAnna Robertson, Tommy Baker, Kamarin Spann, Amber Callendar, Layton Adams, Lindsey Stowe, Rusty Carpenter, Hannah Culberson, Kendra Culberson, Jacob Culberson, Steven Baker, and Katlyn Baker; brothers: Hollis Adams and Hubert Adams; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends. Pallbearers will be Rusty Carpenter, Tommy Baker, Layton Adams, Brandon Spann, Houston Callender, Bobby Stowe, and Jason Peppers.
