Obituary of Patricia "Pat" Chairl Etheridge
Patricia "Pat" Chairl Grisso Etheridge passed from this life on Friday, September 25, 2015, following an extended illness.She was born March 15, 1943 in Richmond, CA to the union of her parents,Eber Grisso and Margie Stein.
Services will be held 1:00 pm from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla on Wednesday September 30, 2015. The wake will be on Tuesday, September 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The service will be officiated by Reverend Daniel McClure of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow in the Urania Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, S. L. Etheridge; and her parents. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her children: Catherine and Jesse Kemp of Tx., Shannon and Susie Cooley of Ar., Sandra and Robert Brodsky of Pa., Lisa and Steve Pennington of Olla, Steve Etheridge, Jr. of Wy.; her 11 grandchildren: Misty, Trish, Billy Tyler, Ryan, Kelsey, Chris, Lindsay, Laura, Kaylee, and Makenna; her 7 great grandchildren: Matthew, Logan, Cody, Lucas, Sean, Dreyton, and Hudson; her siblings: Ken Patchett of Wa., Judy Madden of Id., Betty Dias of Az, Arnie Gomes, Jr. of Ca., Eddie Gomes of Or., and Barbara Sanchez of Ca. She also developed a very special bond and deep friendship with her primary caregiver over the past four years, Debbye Fagans of Clarks. Pat served her life dedicated to her Lord and family. She was a self-taught scholar with a voracious appetite for reading the Bible, history and novels. Her family, friends and community will attest to the fact that she could have won Top Chef; her culinary skills were legendary. When her health permitted, she loved to travel and learn about other people's cultures including religion, music, food and general lifestyle. One of her greatest passions was designing beautiful things and she spent countless hours threading needles to create intricate embroidery making quilts, pillows, pillow cases and whatever else struck her fancy. A parable in the Bible that exemplifies Mama Pat's life is found in Matthew 25; The Parable of the Sheep and Goats. She lived her life in self sacrifice and service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons: Billy, Chris, Logan, Mattew, Ryan, and Tyler. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude's or Cliff Williams Foundation.
