Obituary of Ronald Strickland

Graveside funeral services for Ronald Wayne Strickland, age 70 of Jefferson, Georgia and formerly of Monroe will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, with full military honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:30 to noon at the Riser Funeral Home located at 7131 U S Highway 165, Columbia. Ronald died December 19, 2015 at his camp in Columbia following a brief illness. He was born on November 2, 1945 at Monroe to the union of his parents John Morris and Lula Delores Martinez Morris. Ronald served six years in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Vance Strickland. Ronald was a talented musician and loved to tell a story in song and music. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Hattie Harris Strickland of Jefferson, Georgia; two brothers: Ray Vernon Holmes of Augusta, Georgia and Ricky Holmes of Richmond, Virginia; his first cousin who was like a brother, Bruce Morris; and a host of other cousins and family members.
