Obituary of Kathy Dale Kepney
Funeral services for Kathy Barrett Kepney, 58, of Columbia will be at 10:00 am Tuesday February 16, 2016 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Harriman officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Kathy was born on April 22, 1957 in Louisville, MS to the union of Jackie and Kay Barrett. She passed from this life into eternal rest on February 12, 2016 in Columbia, LA.
Kathy, a daughter, sister, avid reader, church pianist, valedictorian of Caldwell Parish High School Class of 1975; mother, grandmother, aunt and great aunt will be greatly missed especially by her "greats" who would always say, "Will Aunt Kathy be there."
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents the B.E. Shumakers, paternal grand parents the E.H. Barretts of Mississippi, and her first husband Joe V. McKeithen of Grayson.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories, her four sons: Joey McKeithen and wife, Misty of West Monroe, Tim McKeithen and fiancee, Matina of Lake Charles, Daniel Ellis and fiancee, Jordan of Anchorage, Alaska, David Ellis and wife, Raina of Blossville, New York, and husband, Cleve Kepney of Columbia; her grandchildren: Micah, Allison, Noah, Linus McKeithen and Ethan Ellis; brother: Chuck Barrett and wife, Ruby of Grayson; sister: Tracy Basco and husband, Nathan of Columbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Kathy worked for Hawkins and Brunson Tax Services in Columbia and provided in home care for her parents. She will be dearly missed by all and significantly by her daddy and mama.
Pallbearers will be Nathan B. Basco, Alex Basco, Stephen Braddock, Clay Bennett, Gene Bryant, Willie Winslow and Allen Brown.
