Obituary of William "Bill" Schmidt

Graveside services for William "Bill" Schmidt, age 74 of Olla, will be held at 2 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at Tidwell Landing Cemetery, Nebo, with Sis. Betsy Honeycutt officiating. Bill was born on April 24, 1941 in Fremont, MI to the union of his parents: Frank and Elvena Schultz Schmidt and passed from this life on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Christus St. Patrick Medical Center in Lake Charles, LA. He was a patriotic man having served his country with the US Air Force. He avidly read the newspapers and watched the news channels to keep up with our nation's status. Bill had many jobs throughout his life including being a police officer in Los Angeles, CA, worked for Keiser Steel and was a maintenance man for different apartment complexes. He was a happy-go-lucky person who had a big smile for anyone who met him and he had a great love for animals. He and his wife are members of Oasis Lord of the Harvest in Kelly, LA. He was preceded in death are his parents, sister, Frances Johnson; two brothers, Peter Rogers and John Rogers and son-in-law, Cyrus "Boone" Ketchens. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Schmidt of Olla; daughters: Tina Ketchens of Sharptown, Dena Scott and husband, Wayne of Olla and Irene Kolkmeyer of Olla; brother, Eugene Rogers and wife, Shirley of South Bend, IN; grandchildren: Matt Madsen (Jana), Jonna Souppa, Trevor Scott (Ashley), Tori Scott, Amy Bradley (Bobby) and Steven Kolkmeyer (Amber); great-grandchildren: Kaylie Madsen, Allyssa Madsen, Cason Talley, Blaine Bradley and one due in June and a special friend, Judy Richey.
