Obituary of Robert Knight

Funeral services for Robert Knight, age 77, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 4, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Mr. Daniel Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Robert was born August 23, 1938 to the union of William and Jewel Roark Knight in Holum and he passed from this life on May 1, 2016 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was an engineer for the state of Louisiana. He was a great basketball player who played for Copiah Lincoln Junior College in Wesson, Mississippi before transferring to Northeast Louisiana University. After retiring from the state, he loved working out at the Columbia Recreation Center where he was known for taming the squirrels there. Also, he loved making wooden bears. He was preceded in death by his son: Mark Knight; his parents; brother-in-law: Sal Salvato. He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Bobbie Knight of Columbia; two sons: Brian Knight and his friend Dr. Rodney Wise; Wade Knight and his fiance Francis; sister: Veronique Salvato; grandchildren: Justin Knight, Matt Knight and his fiance Amber Perot, Joey Knight, Coltin Knight, Brad Forbis, Brittany Forbis, and Kendrah Knight; great-grandchildren: Rayleigh Knight, Kyson Knight, Kennedy Stamper, and Hadley Stamper; like a brother: Kenneth Jackson. Pallbearers will be Rodney Wise, Justin Knight, Joey Knight, Matt Knight, Coltin Knight, and Brad Forbis.
