Obituary of Sr. Smith
Funeral services for Mr. Calvin Huey Smith, Sr., age 67 of Columbia, will be 2 PM Friday, May 29, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Columbia in Columbia with Rev. Jimmy Goodman officiating and Tom Gay delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Thursday evening at Riser Funeral Home from 5PM to 9PM then again Friday from noon until time of service at First Baptist Church of Columbia. Mr. Smith was born in Caldwell Parish on October 22, 1942 to the union of Kirby Nicholas "Kirb" and Etta Mae Fatheree Smith Hall and passed from this life on May 27, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Calvin was a long time self-employed businessman including: Smith's Butane, Smith's Furniture, D&J Logging and S&S Auto Sales. He served on various boards throughout his lifetime. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved all his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father; John Hall, sister; Betty Kyle and brother; James Smith. Survivors include the love of his life and spouse, Cherryl Patrice Smith of Columbia, five sons; Calvin "C.H." Smith, Jr. of Columbia, Dewayne Smith and wife, Sabrina of Gonzales, James Ray Smith of Columbia, Jordy Lee and wife, Morgan of Winnsboro and Jon Cader and wife, Misti of Columbia, two daughters; Lori Garlington and husband, Robert of Monroe and Sharon Smith Dallalio of Baton Rouge, sister; Jane Fowler and husband, Ralph of Columbia, thirteen grandchildren; Kacey Roberts, Justin Roberts, Faren Dallalio, Logan Dallalio, Aubrey Wyant, Dorrian Gagne, Jon Michael Cader, Zach Smith, Serena Smith, Michael Smith, Daniel Smith, Addison Lee and Hayden Lee and three great-grandchildren; Tanner Roberts, Gavin Lawrence and Brianna Roberts. Pallbearers will be Tom Gay, Billy Cy Frazier, Sam Duke, James "Sarge" Masters, Be-Line Exline, Kenneth Woods, Johnny Stamper and Wayne Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Wilbur McGrew, Wilbur Hillestad, Dan Smith, John Rider and Raymond Fatheree.
