Obituary of George Edward Williams

Funeral services for George E. Williams, 62 of Pineville, LA will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church of West Monroe, LA in Feazel Chapel. Interment will follow at Angel Bend Cemetery, Columbia, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM, Wednesday, August 16 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia and on Thursday, August 17 at Feazel Chapel from 11:30 AM until time of service.

George was born April 10, 1955 in Monroe, LA to the union of his parents, James Edward Williams, Jr. and Dora Neal Williams and he passed from this life on August 13, 2017 in Columbia, LA. George was raised in Caldwell Parish and was a member of Locust Grove Church. He graduated from Caldwell Parish High School in 1973 and went on to earn a political science degree from Grambling State University in 1977. He furthered his studies at Temple University in San Antonio, TX and University of New Orleans where he was pursuing a master's degree. For the past 15 years he was an active member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. George worked as a School Resource Officer for Rapides Parish Sheriff's Department for 14 years and he also coached basketball during that time. He mentored many young men and women throughout his career. He loved working with children and they loved and respected him. He impacted the lives of so many young people and was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. George was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers: Willie Charles Williams and Fred Williams.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia Steen; step-children: Tyler Kleczkowski, Jason Kleczkowski, Shane Kleczkowski and Erika Sierra and her husband, Jose' and their daughter, Callie; sisters: Mildred Smith of Columbia, Ida Blount of Jackson, MS, Doretha Dunn and husband, Frantz of Beaumont, TX, Ann Coleman of Arcadia, LA, Josie Denney and husband, Ronald of Jackson, MS and Lillian Belisle and husband, Rudolph of New Orleans; brothers: Milton Williams of LaPlace, LA and Jimmie Williams III and his wife, Alice of Bassfield, MS; nine nieces; sixteen nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmie Williams IV, Vertress Slack, Joe Belisle, Dudley Payne, Henry Blount, Jerry Blount, Tyler Kleczkowski and Frantz Dunn IV. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Kleczkowski, Jason Kleczkowski, Clarence DeDe', Levi Payne, Rev. Joseph Williams, Rev. Michael Williams, Milton Williams and Jimmie Williams III.
