God bless Doc Owens family, for he gave his life in servitude of our fine Navy and beloved Marine Corps. It is an honor to have served with him and be a part of history for our greatest nation. He left us too soon, and will never be forgotten. He takes care of the Marines up in heaven on Fiddler’s Green.
In the year of our Lord two thousand and eighteen. I prey my words find you comfort, and give you soltice in knowing “Doc” was loved and respected wherever he served.

My deepest condolences go out to everyone in the Owens family. The world and the Navy lost a tremedous Sailor, although everyone knows deep down inside he loved the Marine the same if not more!"Doc" was also a great man to serve with and also be buddies with. I remember many conversations and cigarettes (for him)/cigars (for me) with him but the best conversation we ever had was after he gave me a box of Unites States Navy Cigars when I left the Navy. He was the only person I served with who was that appreciative of serving along side me. That shows you what kind of person he was. He loved the people he served with and his country as well. Rest in peace Doc and we'll stand watch from here!

He will be missed more than you know! He was my husband’s first “Doc” and favorite. He served at 8th Engines, Camp Lejeune. Years went by and when my husband was getting his service dog at the Brigg in Charleston, we saw Doc Owens again. We stayed connected this go round. I set up a surprise for my husband on his retirement. I had Doc come early to the house and surprise my husband. He then attended my husband’s retirement ceremony. He was a very selfless person that will always be loved!!!

Robert Owens was one of the most dedicated Corpsmen that ever donned a uniform. His passion for helping people surpassed what was expected of a Corpsman. He always went above and beyond for his Marines, service members and fellow man.
Rest In Peace brother.

I had the pleasure of serving alongside Doc Owens as in Marine in 12th Marines in Okinawa Japan. Doc was one of the most genuine human beings I’ve ever met. He lived for his Marines, and we thought of him as one of our own. His door was always open regardless of the time of day or night if someone needed an ear or a shoulder to lean on. Doc Owens was a rock for many of us through many hard times, and his contributions to all our lives are immeasurable.
My sincerest condolences to his family in their time of grief. Words cannot express all of our sadness for you in your time of loss. Please know that Doc Owens was beloved by every Marine and Sailor he served with, and that he will live on forever through each and every one of us.
Fair winds and following seas Doc, Semper Fidelis.
Until Valhalla Brother, when we will meet again.
